Abi’s paintings are concerned with paint’s ability to visually describe and reinvent and especially in being able to balance between figuration and abstraction, rearranging both space and sense of depth, on the canvas through composition and layering.
Recently Abi has been travelling a lot and has been affected by the different landscapes, terrains and environments of the places she has visited. The airy Swiss Alps, the Everglades marshland, lush, leafy Bermuda, and the Peruvian Rainforest. Like brushstrokes, the different flora fluctuate wildly in ‘style’ and these regional nuances have begun to inspire Abi’s vocabulary of mark making.
