The collective is dedicated to making site specific performance for camera in a varied natural landscape. Their work spans performance, photography, video, sculpture and installation. Nisa’s work as a member of kelly/marhaug/ojalvo is a vital strand of her artistic development and creative output.

Since 2013 kelly/marhaug/ojalvo has been creating a body of work entitled Lånt Landskap/Borrowed Landscape, a series in three parts, with each part situated in one of the artists’ home countries. The first phase took place in Norway during a 2-week road trip along the Norwegian coast from Bergen North to the Lofoten archipelago, above the Arctic Circle. In situating Phase II of the Lånt Landskap project in Wales, Nisa and her co-collaborators tie their work to the UK. During their residency at Stiwdio Maelor, kelly/marhaug/ojalvo will embark on a process of excavating site and self, making physical, conceptual and historical investigations into the local materiality, culture and context of Lower Corris and adjacent locales. They will explore the slate and stone quarrying and mining activity of the region. A future Phase III is planned for 2017 in the USA, where the work from Norway and Wales will be joined by further site specific collaboration in America. Once completed, exhibitions and a publication of all three phases is envisaged.
