DO WE BELIEVE IN OUR TRUTH-MAKING-SYSTEM, OR DO WE WANT TO BELIEVE IN THE TRUTH BECAUSE IT GIVES US INFLUENCE AND POWER?
Esther says that her work is about how we gain and transfer knowledge on a scientific and artistic level. She is interested in how we could use knowledge as an exchange, a dialogue. She works together with scientists to learn from them and translate the scientific processes into an artistic expression.
For her thesis She made a computer program where people could read the text and make additions. It is a dynamic structure and through the chaos it is impossible for the ‘user’ to read the text completely and might generate new sentences and thereby new knowledge. This was then handed out handed out on USB to twenty scientists, and to twenty artists. The additions made by the ‘users’ are sent to a database and Esther is creating a publication with all those additions.
