Artist’s Film evening and Photographic exhibition – 24th May

This evening was to showcase stop-motion films created during Gail Hoffman residency with local children; Stiwdio Maelor’s first artist film and photographic competition and a photographic exhibition by Alex Williamson, artist in residence.

The winners were David Begley (film) and Sue Mara (photography) who will be coming to do a residency with us in May.

Schedule of events:

3pm: Doors open, food was served by Adam and Andy’s Food and drinks poured by Brian from Slaters Arms

3.30pm: Stop-motion animated films produced by local children with artist in residence Gail Hoffman

4.30pm: opening of photographic exhibition by artist in residence Alex Williamson and opening of photographic competition and announcement of the winner of the photographic prize

Judges: Photographers and curators – Dianne Bailey and Geoff Young of Pen ‘rallt Gallery Bookshop

5.30pm: Showing of artists films

Judges: Sculpture and Performance Artist – Wanda Zyborska and Film maker – Robert Zyborski

Selected Artists: Brenda Miller, David Begley, Jennifer Pue Sze Choy, Martha Orbach, Marie Pierre, Susuan Bruce, Vicky Vergou

There were also two People’s choice award provided by Adam and Andy’s Food (a new shop opening in Corris) and Brian from Slater’s Arms.

Popping round from the shop next door, Andy and Adam were serving up some hearty Spring grub throughout the day. They were also sponsoring the ‘People’s Choice Award’ and offering the lucky winner a gift voucher to spend in their brand new shop and cafe in Corris. And moving his beer and wine all the way from the Slater’s Arms to Maelor, Brian was  selling liquid refreshments to go with the great hearty spring grub.

Stiwdio Maelor is a not-for-profit artist in residence program in North Wales, UK and  aims to showcase artists through the residency program and local events.
