Rita McKeough is an audio, media installation and performance artist based in Calgary, Canada. Her work includes complex audio work and it incorporates electronics and mechanical performing objects. She has been exhibiting throughout Canada since the late 1970s. Rita is committed to creating chaotic and immersive installations that reconfigure contradictions and tensions in our everyday lives. She uses interactive technologies to represent complex relationships to nature and to create links between my installations and my sound and music practices. Rita works from a feminist perspective with her attention recently centered on the environmental impacts of oil production and a desire to use sound to create a rhythmic voice of agency and empathy to articulate the forces of resistance in the natural world.
