Encouraged by her father, also an artist, Marion has been an artist all her life. She teaches art, studio art photography as well as making her own art and exhibiting regularly.
Marion is spending three months in July and was looking for uninterrupted time to work on her own art practice whilst visiting the UK. Hearing about Stiwdio Maelor thought Liz Doyle’s posts on Facebook she thought this was the perfect place to do this and applied.
She works primarily with encaustic/mixed media in her studio and also makes paintings, drawings and collage. She moved to Melbourne from north queensland eleven years ago and has been part of a few art groups since arriving here. She is currently a member of 69 Smith Street Gallery, Hawthorn Artists Society and The Melbourne Studio School.
She has been part of the Melbourne Studio School, run by Richard Birmingham, since 2010. The studio school is a long running group of experieced artists who are guided by Richard in their exploration of the figure, landscape and the expression of abstraction through various inspirations. The group has four terms a year and its artists exhibit together every two years. I has enjoyed integrating into the art life in melbourne, and have exhibitied in various group and duo shows since arriving here.
Marion is so excited to explore the Welsh countryside through en plein air work and photography, and to use the environment to explore her art practice and experience living as a 24/7day artist.
