Etched Lino Workshop
Led by Molly Brown
November 12th – 13th 2022
Maximum 5 participants
£170 per person
This workshop will introduce the exciting possibilities of using caustic soda solution to etch the surface of traditional lino. This dynamic method provides opportunities for gestural mark making alongside traditional carving and produces spirited and expressive prints.
Over two days at Stiwdio Maelor, participants will be introduced to methods of preparing the etching solution, using different masks and resists and working with the etch directly on the plate to produce a wide range of marks and textures. Molly will
introduce you to the methods she has been honing over the last two years as part of her Masters research and you will leave with all the skills necessary to push the boundaries of your relief printing practice.
Molly began printmaking whilst living in East Africa. She worked for ten years in sustainable agriculture and food growing before turning to creative work full time. Her work is strongly influenced by her previous land based career as well as her rural upbringing in Pembrokeshire. She is currently doing an MA at Aberystwyth University and is a director of Aberystwyth Printmakers.
